History

As a parent of three and lifelong youth coach, Ken Tyrrell was frustrated with the landscape of youth sports. Students were over-scheduled, confined to rigid structures, and had little time to play with friends. Ken believed that a better balance between structure (organized activities) and recreation (free play) would vastly improve each child's experience and better contribute to social, emotional, and physical development.

To that end, Ken created an after-school enrichment program for kids. From the beginning, PowerU merged physical activity and leadership themes in order to help kids develop socially and emotionally, and created opportunity for kids to develop a path to their leadership potential.

After over 17 years of balancing coaching and Corporate America life, Ken now fully pursues his vision for youth sports. Ken and his team would love to talk more about how PowerU could be a good fit for your child and family.
